It probably depends on what type of disorder it is, and what the family member is doing?

What is the situation?

Well, it depends on the disorder. I think that a proper diagnosis is necessary in psychological problems as well as in medical problems. When you try to treat a tummyache whith herbal teas it might work if it is just an indigestion - but if an appendicitis is the reason, the person might also die.
