Hi everyone,

I'm new here and was wondering if anyone could help. I'm a counselling- student in my first year and am wondering if any others are out there who have experienced something similar to what I am going through at the moment. I'm enjoying my course very much and am amazed at the self- growth one goes through at a course like this. I would like to hear from anyone who has had similar experiences. It would also be interesting to hear how people deal and how it affected people who went through amazing leeps in self- growth.
Thank you for your time and your answers are very much appreciated.
Urs

Almost finished a Master's in counseling before I started having babies... yes I noticed the self growth. didn't bother me..I liked it and wanted it Is it bothering you?

You may find relastionships that you have had for a while will be different as you grow. Your family and old friends may not adjust to the "new you". Part of the feo\ild I think. And as much as you grow now new relationships and people may still get in the way.

Find your true self and be true to it. And even in the counseling field there can wolves in sheep's clothing and snakes in the grass. sounds like you're excited though and happy. Good Luck

Hi Janes

Thanks for your reply. No, the self- growth doesnt bothere me, as a matter of fact I find it rather challenging. As for my relationships, yes there is deffinetly a shift which some people find good, others not. I think due to the course and private counselling I try to be true to myself and that led to the break up of my marriage. I probably just want some kind of confirmatiion that I'm not just of my head. Sometimes it is so easy to fall back into old habbits and I do find it very challenging and exiting.
However, what do you mean with wolfes and snakes? The way I see it, if I'm true to myself there is not much what can hurt me, whatever otheres are doing is surely there responsibility... or not? Congratulations to your Babies, I have a 6 year old myself and he is amazing :).

wolves and snakes?...well in all the self growth courses and in the counseling field (and any other field too) as well there are those people who are there for their own self satisfaction, self importance and in some cases some who are seeking others to manipulate for their own purposes. It's not often that that happens tho'. For the most part people going into the field are seeking to help others with trueness in their hearts.. and that is as it should be.

I think we need to be careful though. I'm a teacher and teachers and counselors and those of us who are "helpers" tend to be caretakers and if we aren not careful we tend to caretake way to much. I think that if you are being true to yourself that is the most important thing.

Well...you don't sound out of your head to me at all. You sound just great!!! My "babies are all old 13 yrs through 20) but they are fun (and hard) all the way up.
Hope I answered what you asked.

Take care- keep studying and...HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!

Hi Janes,

thanks again for the reply. I understand the snakes and wolfes now. Somehow I could have guessed that you are a teacher, you sound very positive and encouraging. Yes you helped me with my question, and you brought me a bit closer to my inner balance which is what I'm looking for.
This is as much for myself, as for my course.

Take care and yes, fun stands for all of us!!!
