Can we dedicate this thread to the reading of this book? I would like to hear what other women have to say about this brilliant book and how they have or wish to apply it to their own personal relationships:)

I read this book about 10 years ago, and LOVED it. I think you'll find me on page 23. LOL. I also recommended it to my sister-in-law when she was having trouble in a relationship. I remember this book being a huge stepping stone for my recovery.

Well, I'll see if I can get a copy. I've a feeling that the "me" I was before leaving an abusive marriage is all over the book.

right now, however, I think I might need a book titled something along the lines "women who think they can do it all on their own and otta think about loving ENOUGH." LOL

Dear Emperorsclothes,

The book is indeed wonderfully insightful but when it was recommended to me I was told it could apply to men and I can't agree more. Not to all men mind you but it certainly applied to me. Gotta agree with you its really worth reading and, for me, I'm re-reading it now. Thanks for the remainder.

Thank you for all the replies, i have never, never, read a better book on codependence. I read it and applied some of its principles years ago, but i have never "got it" like i have now.
Read "codependent going through withdrawal from her man"
and you will get some idea.
I welcome your wise insights..

Less mentally draining: I say

"your reaction is yours- own it or throw it out the window, but if ya toss it at me expect it to splat on the wall kuz I'm gonna duck."

definitely- life less mentally draining.

But then, I guess ya do gotta be a bit sensitive and careful of what ya say or do. And when in doubt, do or say nothing.

and move on.

yeah?
