Hi:
Is this the first time for you on this site? If it is you are going to be really pleased you signed on. These wonderful people have befriended me and talked me through the weekend!

i don't have any friends either. I dropped everyone and devoted myself to my husband. Now he is gone I need to renew old friendships and I feel real guilty after not being available.
I am trying to convince myself everything is just fine. Still working on it. Good luck!

hi Mo, get out in the world, try some sports, and hanging out with friends from school, you must have some from school...the more you are out in the world the more you meet people.

Everyone needs a friend...but you need healthy friends...not toxic friends. The healthier you are, the healthier your friends will be. I've seen a great deal of toxicity in my lifetime and only now at 42 have started to learn when people are working against me instead of with me. Hope that makes sense.

I think there is a lesson to be learned from all that touch our lives. Whether it is for a few minutes or for a lifetime of true friendship. That person you've snubbed or passed judgement on, still can teach you a lesson...give them a chance. I am now the closest of friends with the EXGF of my EXhusband...I picked up the pieces for her and she has done the same for me.

A great place to meet people is through doing something that you love, a hobby, an special interest group (computers, church, etc)...this way you know you will share interests with the people you meet.

A

Hi mo. I know how you feel. I have a few friends but they are always too busy for me. I don't get out much either for that very reason. Where's is there to go? I don't think you are old enough to party but I am. But, I'm not going to out to a club by myself and none of my friends ever want to go out.

So, what to do? It's not easy making new friends and even if you do meet new people it takes a while to get to know them enough to want to hang out with you.

So, if you get any good suggestions from this thread please share them with me cause I could use the help too.

I think everyone does need a friend. Sometimes, I feel, that friends are more important to ones self than a lover or a partner.

I don't agree that you should judge friends or determine what kind of friends you need until you actually have some. As Sexy says, you learn from all of those you have around you, both good and bad. So I'm not sure it's best to just go out and "find" someone who is right for you first.

Without understanding your personality or knowing the background it's hard to give direction as to finding friends. I find it hard to believe someone has NO friends or people to interact with. I think just working, going out to eat or visting the mall helps you interact with people. That interaction breeds the ability to find people with common interests. Maybe it's just a matter of being more open or getting out in the world a bit more. It's just hard to tell without knowing the background.

I would also like to comment that I don't always feel that friends should be people that you come and go with. In other words what you put into a friendship is what you will be rewarded with in return. I get so irritated by so called "friends" who call you when they need you or draw on you with nothing to give in return. I might be one of the few people who believe that good friendships require work, honesty and above all a commitment. If not then they might not be the kind of person you'd like to have a friendship with. BUT at this time, maybe it's best to just get out and enjoy people - for what they are - have some fun with them and THEN determine what is best. Don't judge people or try to pick people that are "healthy" for you because until you spend some time around them there is no way you would able to put a fair label on them - and then yes, you'll sit home lonely!
