I just started the effexor 2 days ago, and have had trouble sleeping. I also feel very jittery. Does this go away or should I stop taking the med.

I looked up effexor in my pdr. Side effects include tiredness, dry mouth, dizziness, sleeplessness, nervousness, tremors, weakness, sweating, nausea, constipation, appetite loss, vomiting.

You may experience a few of those symptoms so I would say yes to it is being caused by the effexor. Take the effexor with food. That may help.

It usually takes 3-4 weeks for an antidepressant to get full effect. So I would keep taking it. A lot of times the symptoms will go away after the first week. But, it is always good to let your doc know what's going on and ask their opinion.

Those side effects should subside after a short while. Let your doctor know about them. Maybe will switch you to something else. Especially if the side effects do not go away.
