Happy Birthday Silk, I think I will join you on the Tortugas, if you don't mind some quiet company.

Absolutely beautiful place to go to in your mind......mmmmm, can feel the warm sun and the cool water right now....so peaceful...

Thanks everyone for the great wishes!!!

Dry Tortugas is a delightful off-coast/underwater state park in Florida off of Key West. It is a diver's paradise. You can stay underwater for a really long time because it doesn't get much deeper than 30 feet in most places, but the sights are awesome. It is better to spend several days out in a boat there instead of only a day journey with a land hotel to go to.

Dry Tortugas is actually the island in the photo that came up early this morning. It is pentagonal. It was a fort built in the 1800's to keep prisoners. It is called DRY Tortugas because there is no fresh water there. You have to have it brought in. It is blistering hot there in the summer. You can die of thirst there and be completely surrounded by beautiful water.
