HELLO LOVES.

As you all know, I had a hysterectomy on December 13.

I feel great. On a ton of supplements, all natural hormones, yadda yadda yadda (all through my doctor's advisement. He is a retired OBGYN from B'Nai B'rith hospital on Long Island).

Anywho..I am very adamant about keeping healthy, and keeping my hair. Many women complain after a hysterectomy that their hair thins.

I am on Flaxseed, fish oil, great multi-supplements, all natural hormones. I have read that VINEGAR, consummed a few times a day in water, and RINSING our hair with vinegar does your scalp, hair, an internal organs good. It gives a PH balance. I have been doing extensive research on it and thought to run it about you intelligent good people.

I purchased Bragg's vinegar which is organic, highly recommended, and inexpensive (from the internet).

Any thoughts? I am so silly..I know...just bear with me!

Hi Doris

I rinse my hair with vinegar sometimes..I hear is for the proper ph level and also shine..didnt hear it was for thinnng hair.

How is the flaxseed oil working? I take the flax oil..and eat lots of salmon..nothing else.

Go to the health food store and they will tell you what to take.

Take care..like your posts and thanks for your help.

Doris- when it comes to hormones it has to be the right one and at therapeutic level to have any effect. As far as what goes on with thinning hair, skin, etc. that has to do with the ability of the cells to regenerate. Hair is made of cells and like skin shows the effects of age. Heredity is major factor when it comes to hair. The human body needs different vitamins and nutrition that is derived from a variety of sources. The flaxseed and fish oil can help lower cholesterol. Acidity in the urine can help decrease the risk of urninary tract infections and kidney stones.

Doris,

I know that vinegar is good for cleansing the hair, but not sure about the thinning part.

You would love to shop where I work. I work in a all organic grocery store/restaurant. We've got some great products!!

I know that green tea, in the powder form, is loaded with tons of antioxidents which help your skin. After I had my accident, I mixed the tea with rice milk every day. my skin healed up really well, and my hair was really shiny and healthy. probably because my scalp was so healthy.

Doris my dad has diabetes and arthritus (sp?) he takes apple cider vinegar mixed in water. He just uses a coffee cup and puts a little vinegar then some water to cut it. I think it has helped with his knees. He started doing this after bilateral knee replacement.

Oh thank you all so much!

I have a good head of hair..and want to keep it there. I am being proactive, not reactive. I have so many tax clients complaining about thinning hair as they age, or from surgery, that it is kind of spooky.

I have never felt this balanced in my life. I think the fact I never conceived a child was due to the fact I was never hormonally balanced..ever. I also did the starving anorexia thing..so God only knows what it did to me.

Okay...So far so good on the feedback with Vinegar. I figure it cannot hurt!

Vinegar makes your hair shine. My mom used to use it on me, as a child.

But I have never heard about it generating hair growth. Hair is a protein. If you are concerned about thinning hair, check out Rogaine which is PROVEN to work.

Hi DD,

I grew up with my Mom using vinegar in hers, my sister and my hair once a week to make it shine. She used apple cider vinegar, and I have continued to do so since childhood. I have gone through chemo a few times myself, and have never completely lost my hair. So, I don't know if the vinegar had anything to do with it. It did thin out and I kept it shaved down to about 1/4 to 1/2 for a long time.

I also take apple cider vinegar supplements for arthritus in my knee and it seems to help.

Hey, I'm going to use apple cider vinegar on my hair. Just wanted to say that if anyone has acid reflux or heartburn, a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, sipped slowly, is a great remedy.

Sorry, Doris for talking gut rather than hair... but it all does the body good.

It sounds like vinegar is win-win.

Again, my hair is great..thank God. I just want to be proactive and keep it there, ya know!?
