Ok, so I am on birth control and I needed a refill on it but I also had to schedule my annual appointment so my doctor says "I won't refill it if you haven't scheduled your annual." Doesn't that seem stupid? I mean, you're a week late on scheduling an appt. and they're like "go get pregnant, that is your punishment for not doing it on time." What the hell? It seems so stupid and hypocritical in my opinion cause they are always lecturing about being responsible with your birth control and then they make it impossible for you to be.

Loverbee:

Did they not give you just enough till the day of your appt?

I think that's one dumb doc. Move on honey. You don't need that. Can you not get pregnant even if you miss one? Rare but happens?

I used to work in a doctor's office and we would always fill at least one more week, month or whatever it took until the person could get in for the appointment. I would either double check with your doctor's office on that or move on,,,like mamacinnamon said. Good luck on that.

Wish I could move on but its through my school. All I can get for now. They really need to perfect the art of birth control for women. It is still so rediculous that you need your doc to prescribe something that should be available to all women.

That is somethin, I think, that they hand out condoms and teach the kids how to put it on a banana, but then there is no added protection for the ladies. No where to get it, how to get it, etc.

My oldest daughter when she turned 16 went for her yearly and they talked her into taking the pill. I called and they would not give me any information. Told me they are not a liberty to tell me anything about my minor daughter. Not even if she were to have an abortion.

Now don't they think if she or any girl did have an abortion or any type procedure that they are old enough to know the signs of infection or have the knowledge we moms have from years of experience.

(lol, mamacinn is on the soapbox. quickly jumpin off) 🙂

I do not know which state you live in Mama but i know in illinois, the reason they keep it confidential is cause they have had many abusive mothers threaten their daughters if they have an abortion and they want to make it accessible for girls because being a parent is a big responsiblity. I just think it is stupid that you can buy condoms in the local pharmacy but it is impossible for a woman to get her birth control.

there are other forms of bcontrol you can buy, foam, female condom, etc. i think it's good that you actually have to go to the doctor as they (at least with me) he checks blood pressure, and other things to make sure all is normal. at the end of the day the pill is full of hormones and as you know it can cause bad side effects on certain people.

Oh, well I am not on the pill and the thing that was bothering me is that I have an appt scheduled so it isn't like I was just not going to come in. Anyway, my bf's dad who is out of town got someone to write a prescription for me cause he is affiliated with some people at the planned parenthood of new york so that worked out and apparently it was the pharmacy who screwed up cause my doc eventually called and said that she had written a scrip for five refills and they screwed it up. Thank god I got it taken care of cause it isn't the idea of having to wear a condom that was pissing me off it was the fact that when I started a new cycle, that meant I would have to endure horrible cramps. I was not cool with that.

I don't know that I agree w/ that loverbee. I think our health system stinks here, but I have a friend in England and they have this type medical. They can go see the doc and pay nothing. IF they need counseling they get 6 visits. My friend is having a lot of dental done, but it is gonna take a year coz she has to wait for them to call her. The decide if and when you need or get surgery. I think that stinks almost as bad as HMO. PPO is the only way to go, but then it costs.

a few thoughts.

If men could get pregnant, the government would be handing out birth control like candy, and there would be an abortion clinic on every corner.
