Yes I have used meditation. When you ask does it work, I do not know what you are expecting to accomplish with meditation.

Meditation for me, is quieting the mind. One form of meditation is to get quiet, and concetrate solely on your breathing. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly. Concentrate on inhaling and exhaling. Your mind will wander expecially when you first start meditating. Don't get frustrated, simply bring your attention back to your breathing every time this happens. Another form is chosing a "sound" to concentrate on. Like a fan, or traffic or the birds singing. Again when your mind wanders, bring it back to whatever sound you have chosen. This is also an excellent practice for staying in the moment.

What I have found to be the biggest benefit of meditation is I get to "hear God". In other words, I receive clarity in moments of uncertainty. I usually enter meditation with a question. For example if I am not certain about something and I am trying to make a decision in my life; the answer usually comes during meditation. Its like a lightbulb comes on and suddenly I will have a very clear and settled answer. Meditation also serves to put me in a calm peaceful state.

Meditation requires discipline. The more you do it, the better at it you will become. There are many more ways of meditating, this is just an example. Other forms include chants. Initially, you might be tempted to stop because it is challenging to keep your mind from wandering into thoughts of the future or past. The idea is to stay in the present moment.

Hope this helps!

I agree wholehearted with intheprocess! Your ideas are always great, like you say lightbulb!!!

Meditation is the best therapy for me. The best time to do it is early in the morning before you head to the office of college. It can be silent, concentrated, contemplating, but the truth is there is so much going on of which you are unaware. It helps me put the points on my words, clarify certain things of which I am unsure, make decision, reach a conclusion, realize a brainstorm...etc.

I almost practice meditation on a daily basis. To me it's like my breakfast, or morning coffee.

Thanks Rasputin for te compliment.

I also find that worship is an excellent form of meditation. When I begin to just magnify God, just for who he is and concentrate solely on His awesomeness and wonder; It minimizes my trivial concerns and puts things into prospective. We serve an almight God who is bigger then our biggest problems. No matter what is going on in life, God is always in control! Praise His Holy name! (Even now I'm going there...)
