Well, no one can replace that person in your life. However, here's an idea:
A couple of years ago, I was feeling down that I had no older person to visit, invite over for the holidays or to have my kids spend time with.
Then I saw a notice posted on a church bulletin board. "Friend to Friend" is a volunteer organization that matches volunteers to visit elderly people who otherwise receive no visitors.
They matched me up with the sweetest, most wonderful man (yes, man--I had envisioned a little lady...) We went to parks with my kids, we went out to lunch, we went to church, sometimes we just visited or played games. The kids loved him. He loved us. I could go on and tell you more...but I really want to leave this open ended. You can look them up and write your own ending. Smile!

Oh, and Deely, one of the great things is, you will get on their list as a participant. Then, someday, if needed, you can ask for a Friend to visit YOU! Past "Friends" are considered before other elder candidates.
Sad little factoid:
60% of elderly in assisted living receive NO visitors--ever.
Good luck! May you be blessed.
