My DH just called me multiple times - he's being diagnosed w/bipolar. All week has been feeling depressed and now he's cycling. For example, he calls and says we should cancel our YMCA membership and buy equipment to put in the basement. I said I didn't like the idea, but we could talk about it more later. He didn't like that response. Then he calls and asks if I would get upset if he bought another video game machine (brief history - has bought and gotten rid of 10+ machines in the last 3 years, when he gets them he is completely obsessed with playing these, it leads to drinking and worse.) I tell him that yes I would get upset and he keeps asking me and I keep saying that we've been down this road one too many times and I would be upset. Then he goes on about how he can't do anything - no dog, no truck, no big screen TV, etc., etc. Get the drift that his obsessions are excessive?!? Then he calls me again and apologizes but still says that he is frustrated that he "can't do anything."
You know if I kept a list of all the things that I don't or can't do because we have children and responsibilities I would be so resentful and angry. But I don't. And its not like I've told him never on those things, but we can't afford to buy some of this stuff that he wants - not without putting ourselves further into debt. And he JUST started a new job after randomly quitting the perfectly good one he had. AND I think it perfectly reasonable that I refuse to have a dog in the house yet with a toddler and a baby on the way - I don't need another "child" to take care of. All of these things are possible in the future, but his immediate gratification can't handle it.
Just needed to vent - please share.

Sounds really stressful. Is he always like this?
