You know it is strange, with all the training, with all the lessons in truth, denial can be fun. My eldest called on the 23rd, we thought it was a call of regret for the dinner the next day, she has the flu. This is the first communication since 11/17. Like nothing ever has gone on, wanting to know just exactly what time to arrive. I said did you not get the message of between 12-4? Oh, yes mama, but just what time, any time after 12 was my response, hope to see you. So the girls arrived,at 2:30 and you would never know that the purple and pink elephant was in the house far less the same room. I even got a present, the chopsticks I asked for last year!!!! I even got a phone call the next morning. The old cat and mouse games, the more you persist, the more they resist, the more you resist the more they persist. Ah life. We provided family for a few lonly hearts, work associates of my husband, and the grand kids were sick and clingy, so the girls did not get my undivided attention, and seemed some what jelous, and when 4:30 came round I said aren't you expected at family tonight? I must get to services, then we must go tuck in the children sorry got to go, I think they got a sense that they missed what they have been rejecting, but all around it was a good time. Nothing but food, weather and the recent bouts of flu were discussed. I was overly exposed to flus from 3 counties, and still doing fine. I got to very much surprise my sis, one of those open the box and immediate tears from both of us, just one in a life time unexpected surprises that I was able to deliver, It felt so good. I hope you all were able to toss aside issues, and celebrate the denial as I was. Share your holiday survival stories, good and bad, they are all lessons for us. Blesings Molly

Molly.

I'm sure that, if "denial" didn't "work", it wouldn't be practiced so universally by so much of humanity. I'm not sure that even one human being exists who doesn't use this defense against fear at some time or another.

Is 'denial' of one's own subjective 'reality' sometimes a good thing? Well... that is a profound question indeed.
