My ex's criminal defense attorney is a total asshole. I had to give my deposition yesterday. He was trying to make it seem like I was making my ex crazy, that I was a crazy b*tch and making up excuses for him.

IMO, regardless of the nature of or the status of our relationship, even if we HAD still been together and he HAD found me at my house with another man - he had NO RIGHT to throw me against the wall and try to strangle my friend to death. NONE. He should have WALKED AWAY.

I don't understand how someone can do that for a living - defend people that they know are guilty, and try to con the system into letting criminals out into the world. When they KNOW that they are defending people who are as guilty as sin. It sickens me.

I was in tears leaving to room to compose myself after the deposition, and the defense attorney actually smiled a big sh*t eating grin and said, "Thanks for cooperating". I just looked at him like I wanted him to shrivel up and die, and brushed past him, ignoring the hand he held out to me. I wanted him to drop dead. He was so evil.

No wonder my ex's mother hired him.

But I told them she had been contacting me, so my ex's mother might get a federal tampering with a witness charge against her. HAH. Then the whole family can be in jail...together....awwwwww....(barf).

Thanks for listening. I hate that I have moved on with my life and I have a great new boyfriend who is loving and supportive of me, who is bringing me over to Europe in July to visit him! It's been over 6 months. I am SO over my ex, but this whole trial keeps bringing him back into my life. I just want it to be over with. Why won't he just be a man and go to prison like he is supposed to?

Well, yeah--two counts of assault there.

Lemme remember, hopefully this is the guy who got mauled by your dog for his trouble?

Yes, attorneys do evil things. But then abain if you are an innocent accused person you want one.

So his story is basically that you were cheating on him and he lost it? That wont work.

Just try to stay calm and not act hysterical on the stand.

I won't. I might cry, but I can still hold myself together if i have to.

Yes, this is the ex who was mauled by my dog....and the defense attorney was trying to get me to make them drop the charges....insinuating that 15 years is a long time (that's what they are asking for this particular charge) and won't I feel bad when he is in prison.

Honestly, yeah, I do feel bad, but I feel like it is my civic duty to follow through with this. This man had severe consequences before for a crime he committed when he was 17. He still has no regard for the law. He needs to have consequences, however harsh, for his actions. I no longer live my life to make someone else happy.

I am stronger than they think.

I understand about innocent people needing defense attorneys. But this guy really was - sick. A cruel man.

HAH! What a dumbass.

The state attorney called me at work and said that after the deposition yesterday the defense attorney said he had PROOF that *I* called my ex right before he came to my house.

I said, that is a lie. I never called him. I was consistent about it, because I never did contact him.

Get this, the idiot defense attorney read the phone bill wrong - because my psycho ex called ME several times and showed up because I wouldn't pick up his phone call.

Hah. So 45 minutes worth of questioning were totally worthless. That defense attorney is a moron. I feel better now.

CiCi...
These attorneys play dirty...grasp at any little thing. But what you say, he does not only sound like an a****,
but also nuts...sounds like he knows he may lose, as he is being very frivolous in his accusations...will not hold up if the judge has a brain.

Really, to me, it sounds like he knows he has lost. Don't fall for his attempts to intimidate you...pretty sad when an attorney has to resort to intimidation, because he does not have enough facts to support his case...right?

I am married to a defense attorney. They are not all bad. Its a nasty job sometimes but our civil liberties allow even a criminal or a person in the wrong access representation.

Well my brother and my best friend are lawyers. I have more respect for defense attorneys than I do say divorce lawyers or personal injury lawyers. But, they are a necessary evil. I made my therpist have a good laugh when i said to him "I find divorce lawyers to be loathsome, all they do is make money off of other peoples misery." of coure maybe he was laughing because as a therapist, that what he does. of course at least he helps people.

not all lawyers are scum..in fact I'm sure most are OK, it just that it seems a disprortionate share of them are filthy relative to the ratios ot filth to decency in other professions.

I couldn't do it, anyways. Knowing the person I'm defending is guilty as sin and will just walk out there and committ another crime, retain me again for x thousand dollars, and go through yet another trial.

I could definatley be a lawyer for the state attorney's office and prosectue scummy people, though.
