The required space between slats is 2 3/8 inches so that the childs head cannot get caught. But what about limbs? My daughter got her leg stuck between the slats and was severly bruised. She could have broken her leg if she had fallen just a bit differently. She is pulling herself up and standing. I called the company and they are giving me a refund as soon as I ship them this crib.

I just wanted everyone to know, to be aware of this problem if you are ever in the market for a new crib.

I think that's a good show of faith from a company to send the refund like that. They are probably scared to death that parents will sue. Our culture is so sue-happy these days.

Gypsy,

I sent this to my son, and he went and measured. The slats are only 1 1/2 inch apart - so assuming that is safe.

What brand is this? Glad to know that the company is willing to refund the money. Are they going to recall the crib I wonder?

Glad your baby is O.K., though a little bruised.

Z.

lisset, Do you think it is stupid to want your child safe? I have alot to say to you but I will continue to bite my tongue.

The lady on the phone was really concerned for my daughter. The company is Cosco, I don't want to say bad things about this company. Alot of my baby stuff is made by them. Next time I am in the market for a crib, I will be sure to bring my measuring tape.

My niece had a crib whit a net on the sides. Not even a little finger to stick through. But not easy to grab hold of, if you want to stand up.

How is your daughter doing, gypsy?
