I have struggled with compulsive overeating for 40 years and am starting to realize how it is linked with co dependecy issues. Just for today I am trying to accept responsiblity for my COE and codependency and their link at least in my case Thanks for listening

I was once where you are. What helped me was taking a walk when I felt like eating at non-meal times. I also live alone, so what I did is I dumped everything from my refrigerator and freezer and started shopping day to day. At first I bought frozen dinners, the lean cuisine type, three for the day and one yogurt for a snack. I am not a breakfast person and knew I should be eating 3 times a day so I got 3 meals. After I had trained myself to only eat 3 times a day I started buying stuff for salads, meats, vegetables and yogurts, you know, regular food. I did not stock up my fridge or freezer. I did not buy chips, soda, cookies or anything else I really should not be eating. On occasion I treated myself to McDonalds, where I would get a happy meal. I am now close to 60 lbs lighter and in control of my eating and I feel great! You can do it!

That's great advice if you dont have a hungry teenage son and husband to feed.

I'm working on exercise (water aerobics,3 times a week, love it)and self control. Must admit I need to lose serious weight, like 50 lbs. I was about 40 lbs heavier than now 5 years ago. I reflect on that success.

Not giving up though, I'm searching for something to replace the food for emotional comfort. I know it will come to me.

One thing that helps curb appetite is to be drinking LOTS of ICE COLD water. It helps you feel full.

Help. I'm out of control again. I posted a prayer request under thread: I would appreciate prayer. I need to get back to eating healthy. I'm not feeling well.

Hi jas,

I'll pray for you. Hang in there. You'll get through it.

I think I have eating problems too but I'm unsure as to the "diagnosis"... cause i've never really talked to anyone about that... and because i'm not hugely overweight, nobody seems to take it seriously when I try.

anyway, i say all that only to let you know that in some small way i understand, and my heart goes out to you.

please let us know if there's any other way we can support you.

I have recently come to the realization that I cannot "work on" my overeating until I work through the issues of my codependency. It was very freeing. That doesn't make it any easier when I binge eat or compulsively eat. But I am able to give myself grace to move past it. I hope the same for you.
