And, as another first for me, I'm going to let all the bad grammar and atrocious spelling mistakes remain uncorrected. No more 'sp.' addendums for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

charlie!!!

You are one brave and smart lady.

You never acknowledged that you were an alcoholic before this New Year's Day?? What actions can you do to help yourself achieve this goal??

Perhaps you could check if there are any alcoholics anonymous groups or any kind of rehab. programs that allow you to go for the day and come home in the evening?

Alcohol is a depressant and like you acknowledged, it has been behind every bad decision you have ever made. Do you think that alcohol might have played a part in your bouts of extreme depression and suicidal thoughts???

Just food for thought, honey. I'm so glad you are feeling better.

I hope for all the best for you in 2006: renewed vigor and joie de vivre, good health, a steely determination and perseverance under adversity.

((((Sweet Charlie))))

I am so mesmerized by your honesty and openness! The 1st step to healing is confessing the problem. You are on the right track, sweetheart and I am so proud of you!

Let this be your # 1 Resolution for the New Year 2006. I didn't struggle with Alcoholism, but I know how hard it is. All addictions serve one purpose, trying to fill that void.

Charlie, your words touched me deeply and I believe in you. I think you are a great soul with big heart! PLEASE HONEY FORGIVE YOURSELF, and start afresh with the beginning of this new year 2006.

May 2006 be a new & fresh start to all of us here who are struggling with something!

Happy New Year 2006 to You and to All my dear cyber friends & to the Site Coordinator!!!

(((charlie))), wow. I'm so sad and at the same time hopeful and excited for you after reading your post. I only hope so much of what you realize for the alcoholics in my life, and this fills me with so much hope, as well as yet more admiration for you as a strong woman who is treating herself with the love and dignanty she deserves!!! I am so glad for you, and thank you for the hope. Happy New Year.

Ras, Bonita, Lolli, plz, Lass, Exotic,

I just checked in.

How can I thank you all?

I am so touched by your words, and your support. I have managed to not drink since the day before New Years' Eve.

I know it's onlt been four days, but I am feeling good about this. I have told all my friends, and I am committed to carrying through with my promise to myself, that I will not drink alcohol again.

Lass, I would be honoured to go with you!! I saw an advert on T.V. for alcoholics anonymous. Just after I had written on Ras's thread!!

The signs are there if we look for them!!!!!!! LOL!!!

All of you have written words that warmed me, and lift me. Thanks.

Bonita ~ I really didn't admit it to myself before. It's easy to bandy around the term 'alcoholic', and ususally in a joking way. But to stop and think "I am an alcoholic" is a revelation to me. There was always some justification or excuse for my drinking.

It just dawned on me that it was a HUGE problem, not just a reckless lifestyle.

I want to thank you, all of you, from my heart ~ your support and enthusiasm will bolster my reserve...

~lots of love, charlie~XXXXXX
