What is cognative behavioural therapy and what does it involve, I was refered to have it and it is my first session tomorrow.
I'm not sure what I am going for so what sort of reasons do people go for and what is talked about.

Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy is based on the principle that your thoughts, moods, behavior and physical reactions are all connected to each other. Also, that all 4 of these things are affected by whatever environment you are in (there's a diagram). This type of therapy is good for people with anxiety d/o's and depression.

I have been going for CBT since March, but stopped in August. It is really good and works for certain things. What is it you are going for? Usually the therapist will set you tasks to do, depending on your circumstances and it is aimed to change your way of thinking to be more positive. People usually go for panic, depression anxiety (like SuzyQ said) anger and feeling of guilt. Its not really like humanistic or psychodynamic therapy.It is a more of a 'doing' therapy.
