Does someone close to you have cancer? If so, can you share what kind of cancer? And how old the person is?

I have served in a cancer support ministry. Cancer patients (and those close to them) need and deserve a great deal of support, encouragement, kindness and medical relief for their physical suffering.

Please share what you can...

My oldest sister got a breast cancer 2 years ago. We are both very different from each other. However, I love my sister and keep her in my prayers.

I sent my sister 2 good books to help her cope with cancer. That's all I can do to her. She is not very forthcoming person so I don't have much info about her journey and the turbulances which she probably went thru, but I imagine it must be humiliating.

I wish my sister all the best and quick recovery.

Boi -

When there is nothing more that medical science can do, it boils down to our own, personal faith. I would be glad to speak with you on Liberation Brew Threads, as I am not permitted to discuss matters of religious faith or hope on the Support Threads.

Boi -

Wow. Your friend is so young, I'm so sorry. My mom has bladder cancer from smoking so I have wondered similar things, my sister's bf died around the age of 40 from bladder cancer (also from smoking) and she had the same questions as well.

My mother's health is better cancer wise (she has other problems), so we just try to be sensitive to the fact that when she does go out of remission she is understandably more fragile. But no one likes people pretending around them. How would you want to be treated do you think?

My sister indulged her boyfriend, he had so little time left when he found out he had cancer. By no means was she "delicate" with him, they always bickered, but she was loving and they spent their own variety of "quality time" as much as they could.

Do the things your friend enjoys and is still able to do. Just your company will be appreciated in most cases. So many people become abandoned by those who care about them, because those family and friends can't handle the difficulty of seeing someone they love sick and fear losing them... people don't know what to say or do, and that keeps them a way... and so often how they must regret it more than anything. Please, even if you can't figure out what to say or do, just be there... your friend will understand that there are somethings that are beyond words and favors- your love will speak for itself and maybe your friend will ask for any help he needs once he feels your genuineness.

(((boi))) and (((friend)))

Dear Boi -

I am so sorry that you have been separated from your friend by his death. Usually, we are much older, before we face such a terrible loss. I hope you are able to find peace, in the midst of this pain. And I would bet that someday, you will be helping others to face similar losses in their own lives because of all that you have gone through.

My heartfelt sympathies to you and his family -

Ma Strong

I have been in your shoes, Boi. I am so sorry. I know the hurt and the questions and the craziness that you feel right now first hand.

One of my very best friends died of Brain Cancer in 2005. He was 28.

I will say some prayers for you and his family, and if you ever want someone to talk your grief out with, give me a shout out.
