I am brand new to this- finally after yet another relationship ending because of my co dependency and continuing to pick an emotional un available and married man- I went on line and found you. I've been reading "The Language of Letting Go" daily for several months and decided to go on line and seek help from support groups since the rural community i live in doesn't have any inperson groups. This is actually better for me because the computer is such a big part of my life and I can be on line regularly... I look forward to reading about other discussion groups and hopefully learn from everyone's struggles as I seek to become healthy and strong.

Welcome seaside:

I too had a long string of unavailable men, and a book was recommended to me that helped me tremendously- its called "How to Spot a Dangerous Man before you get involved" by Sandra Brown. Its definitely an eye opener and talks about dif personality types of men but more importantly, who they are attracted to (US!) and why. It really helps to take a look at ourselves first so that we can make better choices. The book can be found on amazon.com.

Also, I don't know if you've read it, but there is a thread on here called Charmer Abuser that may help too, written by Ladeska a long time ago. You could find that in the thread search.

Good luck, and keep reading and posting.

Way to go, SD! I was going to recommend the exact same book! There is an excellent chapter (The Emotionally Unavailable Man) which should be a real eye opener for you and give you the strength to step back from this guy in peace.

Keep posting. You can do this.
