Hi, how long has it been since you've been working with this therapist?

Hi Mouse I'm ending my relationship with my therapist next year after nearly five years of hard work. I feel very alone and afraid of loosing her. She unfortunately is going to retire from her counselling practice in June. At the moment I see her twice a week and have done for three years but after Christmas we are cutting back to once a week. I just do not know how I'm going to cope without her. Please let me know how you are Mouse. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Guest Guest & Brittainy,

I have been seeing my therapist for 3 1/2 yaers now.
She has really helped me alot. But the past couple of months I don't seem to be progressing in our relation ship. I don't know what to think or how to enhance the relationship. I look at therapy as me doing the thinking and the talking and getting some insites from her about the subjects. But How do you further your relationship with your therapist if it is so one-sided.It's the therapist patient relationship. But she also keeps on talking about transferance, maybe this is something that I not good at.

Brittainy,

There is something you have overcome that I have not is being comfortable with being dependant on your therapist. To my suprise I found out that I am very dependant on my therapist, and you that really scares me. I don't know if breaking up with her is a good and healthy thing for me. but I will find out on Thursday.

You also are going to be seeing her once a week for a few months, maybe in that time she could help you find someone else that you may be compatable with. I know it's a very scary thought, exspecially with all the time you have spent with each other. To get involved with another therapist and possibly going over everything you have worked on the past five years, is just huge. But maybe it will be easier than you might think. And somehow you might be able to have some contact with her after she retires, maybe writing letters to each other.

I will write again
Mouse

Hi Mouse thanks for your reply. I feel a lot easier with the situation now, although I am going to miss her. I shall ask her if I can write to her, send her Christmas cards etc. Please write back and take care
