I sent the man who asked me to dinner (via email) an email apologizing for cancelling but telling him my life was too overwhelming right now to even think about going out to dinner. I have an hot water heater that sprung a leak and ruined the ceiling and walls in the living room. My house is torn apart. I am having a yard sale, I am packing to move, and getting ready and going out to dinner is just more than I can handle right now.

Maybe you could invite him over with take-out food and hand him a mop?

With a smile...

Nah, not that interested. I have been trying to figure out how to get out of it. I thought I was agreeing to a business lunch at some time in the future when I agreed.

I met with him (we are in a business networking group) for lunch. Afterwards he sent an email that next time would be meat and potatos. I responded I would take him up on that. Next thing I knew he had reservations for dinner at an upscale steakhouse.

Can you actually believe this is me after the buckets I cried on 2007 and 2008. You told me I would reach this point and here I am.

Isn’t it great to be at this point!!!! Glad you cancelled; you just really weren’t into it or him.

Good luck with the mess from the hot water heater, I just hate when that happens…

Actually, I have about decided to save my money and make reservations at the upscale steakhouse and take all my girlfriends who have supported me over the past year.

Sounds like a whole lot more fun than having to carry on a conversation with a man.

oh Bitsy, i know what you mean! these past few weeks, i would always prefer the company of family friends who were directly or indirectly helping me in life, than to go out and dine with a guy!

in fact, it is kinda amazing how different our responses have become. when we're not into it, we can just say no, and not sweat on it. whew! a guy had asked me for coffee the whole week, everyday he is trying, but i wasn't interested and i just say no. if i were still in the heights of my being an enabler,i would drive over at whatever time just to be with some stranger guy who tells me he needs me! thank heavens i'm done with that! and thanks to all of you who share your brave stories and struggles, i have learned a lot truly!

and Bitsy,i am proud of you. ma Strong, you are so witty, i love it!

bitsy, hope u find some good service in fixing the home stuff, that can be stressful, take care!

big bear hugs

Well it was just causing me more stress to think about going out with him and it was worth it. I fugure when the right guy asks me out I won't be stressed.

Never have been before.

Awesome! Hooray for you!!! Taking care of yourself...you rock.

I'm proud of you for following your gut and cancelling something you really didn't want to do in the first place. That takes courage.

(((bitsy))) way to go!

Good work thinking about what you need. You're a good example and I'm working on getting there.

Sooo, yesterday I worked on my garage sale. I was nasty and sweaty when I went to get Baby Girl from a friends. We went to a little seafood place out on the water and had shrimp then walked out on the pier where lots of people were fishing. We had a great time talking. Quite different from the Friday night I was dreading.
