Hey everyone -

Admittedly, I've eaten everything in sight since Saturday. Plus I drank my way through three counties. Today, I'm back on the wagon, and starting my first day of two, all-protein days. Anyone with me? Hello? ..... is it just me and the crickets?

So I am back on the bandwagon and lets start dropping some pounds!!

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread. I started my all protein diet today too. Took all my measurements this morning (find that I lose inches faster than pounds on protein diet) and wrote them down.
Hoping to drop 3-4lbs this week.
This weekend was terrible- eating/drinking out of control!! šŸ™‚

Hi Shaney!

Funny you should mention the d-word. I'll do the protein gig with ya--I've been craving chocolate. Yesterday I did go out and by a pound of whey protein powder so that I could make smoothies for breakfast. I feel fat and bloated after my wine binge this past weekend.

I also bought a case of bottled water to cleanse and purify my guts! AND I do mean GUTS!

Hey 2b!! :o) - protein it is. I'm going to get some chicken for lunch right now, before I have an out of body experience at my desk. I've had an egg and a coffee so far and it's 1:30. I've got to be thin by the 16th... we have a party to go to where I have to dress a bit skimpy... so I'll be driving this damn diet wagon with a vengence .... :o)

I've got to be thin by the 16th!!!!! Ha ha ha! I am SO glad there is someone who thinks the same way that I do...I must be thin and have defined abs by the 22nd! Just think, Shaney, you could eat a whole chicken on the protein diet, fat and all!

I've been grossly overeating too. Eugh. And drinking wine. Have put on 2 or 3 lbs in as many days šŸ™

P'raps it's the weather ... or astrology working against us ...! (Well, let's blame it on something that's not our own sweet selves! I might blame my ex, or the government, or even the Queen! Lol.)

Right. Tomorrow I start afresh. Since I don't ever eat animals or birds ... would fish do for the protein? How about nuts? Beans? And must I shun cheese, because of the fat? I don't think I could survive without cheese ... giving up chocolate & butter & margarine & biscuits & cakes is MUCH easier! Am i allowed tiny bits of cheese on dry crackers, pleeeeze? Advice v welcome.

Good luck, girls! Hopefully we'll celebrate every little victory together. Blessings - Gazelle.

hey guys, I am back on today too.

did good ALL weekend until last day when friends invited mr. 25, daughter and I to chinese buffet for "going away" meal.

I figured there would be legal foods, as most have shrimp and crab steamed.

no seafood.

so, I sucked it up and enjoyed what I could.

then came down with horrible cold, so had grilled cheese and tomato soup and ramen noodles as my foods yesterday....in addition to full sugar soda.

only up two pounds from my lowest and the ONLY thing saving me is that my period is due this week, and i always LOSe before it.

so, back on track and gonna lick this once and for all....wanna keep doing DOWN and my bday is tomorrow and I am hoping nobody does cake.

HI GAZELLE...yes fish is great for diets, and cheese too, as long as everything you eat is in small portions it won't hurt.

I think with society, now portions are so huge that we all tend to overeat too much of a good thing and its all calories that builds up in us and the poundage.

Hi folks,

I thought I would take a moment to contribute since I have lost 100 pounds in the past two years and I have about 60 or 70 more to go to reach my goal.

There are severalk things to keep in mind when you want to lose weight.

#1) Try not to think of it as a diet! The D-word can be self defeating because you look at it as a temporary thing to take off a few pounds. That's fine but when you stop, you just resume old habits and the weight will come back, often invited a few friends to the party. i have been there and done that and can do so no more. If you think of it as a change in your way of eating, you will do much better. If you are using a low-carb plan, you should phase into a maintenance regimen at the end. I personally can recommend Sugar Busters if you are looking for something.

#2) Exercise - This is so important, especially with a low carb diet. With low carb, you spend the first three days emptying the glycogen stoires in your liver. When they are gone, the biody has to burn either protein or fat. By exercising 30 minutes a day (and a brisk walk will do it, or two brisk walks of 15 minutes each), you convince the body it needs the muscle protein, so it starts to burn fat. Be careful about how much fat yuou eat because any fat you eat will get burned first and slow your weight loss. When you shift back to carbs keep up the exercise and the body will stay in the fat burning mode, unless you go crazy with the carbs.

Good Luck to you all and stick with it. Slow and steady is the best way!

Basso

WAY TO GO ALL... I sure do feel for ya w/ the dieting and all. I was taught 4-6 small meals and that is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Small portions and tons of water.

Keep up the good work.

I struggle every day. I work at home and have to make myself stay away from snacks. I try to buy the best, healthy stuff I can, but sometimes give in to my kids' wishes to buy cookies/sweets. I have tried the all protein thing, but REALLY enjoy bread!! I find that a good 45 minute walk about 4 times a week and lots of water makes me feel best. Good luck to all struggling with food/diet issues.

I need to get back on...making excuses for not doing it and the only one I am hurting is myself.

not taking care of myself...and not sure why....gotta figure it out and start doing it again....I deserve it.

Hey Shaney, bet you thought I dropped out. No way, have lost only 3 pounds but have only walked 3 times because I have been sick. I have even started drinking some water, probably 3 bottles a day instead of ZERO!

Hey Shaney, nothing special really. I just stopped doing the fast food thing. I eat smaller portions. And I feel like I'm eating all day long. I have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner. And I eat healthy snacks--like fruit or veggies. I exercise for 40 minutes every day and I take a multi vitamin. And the biggest thing is that I don't deprive myself of anything. If I want candy, I have some---just not the whole bag. I'm sure as I continue to lose, it won't come off so quickly and I will have to change things up a bit, but that's ok. And the one other thing I do that helps me is to set small obtainable goals. I know how much I need to lose total, but I set my goals in 25 pound increments. And I reward myself when I reach one of those goals. Hope this helps!! LFM
