Once upon a time, in a land not so far away,

A beautiful, independent, self-assured princess

Happened upon a frog as she sat, contemplating ecological issues,

On the shore of an unpolluted pond

In a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the princess' lap

And said: "Elegant Lady,

I was once a handsome prince,

Until an evil witch cast a spell upon me.

One kiss from you, however,

And I will turn back

Into the dapper, young prince that I am.

And then, my sweet, we can marry

And set up housekeeping in yon castle with my mother,

Where you can prepare my meals,

Wash my clothes, bear my children,

Clean my house, fulfill my every need and sexual desire,

And forever feel grateful and happy doing so."

That night,

As the princess dined sumptuously

On a repast of lightly sauteed frog legs

Seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce,

She chuckled to herself and thought….

I DON'T THINK SO!

A man's home may seem to be his castle from the outside; inside, it is more often his nursery.

-Clare Booth Luce.

If you talk about yourself, he'll think you're boring. If you talk about others, he'll think you're a gossip. If you talk about him, he'll think you're a brilliant conversationalist. - Linda Sunshine.

In passing, also, I would just like to say that the first time Adam had a chance, he laid the blame on women.
-Lady Nancy Astor.

The supreme happiness in life is the conviction that we are loved -- loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves. - Victor Hugo.

I think we can all find meaning in this one; one of my favorites:

"And at the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started.
And know the place for the first time."
T.S. Eliot

"Discouragement is a negative emotion with more than one trick
up its dark sleeve. It tricks you into mentally or emotionally
dwelling in the very place you want to leave. Drop all such
sorrow permanently by daring to see through this deception of
the unconscious mind. Who you really are, your True Nature, is
no more tied to the kind of person you've been than the wind
is tied to the skies through which it moves. Your past is just
that, the past, a place within your psyche with no more
reality to it then the picture of a castle on a postcard is
made from stone. You have a destination far beyond where you
find yourself standing today."

"Change is like child birth, it might be the most painful thing you ever experience but it brings new hope & new life."

Author - some amazing woman from this site long ago.

Every person needs someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to.

I forget where this came from, I read it the other day!

Here's a poem I penned many a moons ago:

"Hero"

Whilst in the midst
of sorrow's throes,
to my surprise!
I spyed
a
hero.

At first,
I gasped.....
(then,
breathed
a
sigh -)

for my
hero,
it appears,
is none other...
than
I!

🙂

Rudyard Kipling... that's pretty powerful, awesome! Love that.

Here's one...

Those are great. My favorite quote is, "We will remain the same until the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change." I'm not sure who wrote it but I heard it several years ago and loved it!

This isn't a poem or quote but a song by Madonna. The lyrics match a lot of what I am feeling.

Words

Words, they cut like a knife
Cut into my life
I don't want to hear your words
They always attack
Please take them all back
If they're yours I don't want anymore

You think you're so smart
You try to manipulate me
You try to humiliate with your words
You think you're so chic
You write me beautiful letters
You think you're so much better than me

Bridge:

But your actions speak louder than words
And they're only words, unless they're true
Your actions speak louder than promises
You're inclined to make and inclined to break

(chorus)

You think you're so shrewd
You try to bring me low
You try to gain control with your words

(bridge)
(chorus)

Friends they tried to warn me about you
He has good manners, he's so romantic
But he'll only make you blue
How can I explain to them
How could they know
I'm in love with your words
Your words

You think you're so sly
I caught you at your game
You will not bring me shame with your words

(bridge)
(chorus)

Too much blinding light
Your touch, I've grown tired of your words
Words, words
A linguistic form that can meaningfully be spoken in isolation
Conversation, expression, a promise, a sigh
In short, a lie
A message from heaven, a signal from hell
I give you my word I'll never tell
Language that is used in anger
Personal feelings signaling danger
A brief remark, an utterance, information
Don't mince words, don't be evasive
Speak your mind, be persuasive
A pledge, a commitment, communication, words

We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance.

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.
