My 20 year old son is becoming more violent and not living in reality. Does anyone have suggestions?

I'm looking for a residential facility with counseling and instruction in daily living and life skills. Can anyone tell me if there is such a place.

There are several facilities. Check with your local agencies.

Judy,

He gotta get some help. Good luck. I worked with some violent kids while doing my Master's in Criminal Justice. Show him a lot of love while enforcing boundaries and that should help. If not, get a professional involved. Do it quickly and explain to him that everyone doesn';t care he better get help while he can! Because I hate to say it but courts will quickly lock him up. Its not right but the court system just doesn't care about anyone accept Politics. Hope I helped.

Thank you for your response. There doesn't seem to be any live-in learning facility for anyone with an IQ over 80. Even though these people have a high IQ, they are incapable of living totally independent lives and get easily frustrated.

I have to find some help for him soon, but I'm getting to feel there is none.
