I am trying to find some ideas on how to handle this situation. my sister whom i am close to confided in me about a year ago that as a young child she was sexual and physically abused by our parents and her brothers. she had me promise i would not tell anyone. she is now in therapy. about five months ago she decided not to confide in me. I agreed with her because it getting to hard to hear whatour family had put her through. but i would like to continue to have a friendship with her but she will not speak to me anymore. she also does not speak or come to any family functions. any ideas on how i can deal with this. i miss her.

Why dont you write her a letter telling her how you feel and telling her how much you miss her. Tell her that you have to know if shes gonna be a sister to you and be there for you or not. Cause you really would like it if she would be. but if she doesnt want to be then theres nothing you can do about it but, find yourself a different freind and realize that you have a sister who is too distant to be any help to you at all.

why are you still a member of that family??...just leave them before something happens to you...and go tell her that you left them just because of her....tell her that you share all her pain and suffering...tell her that there will be a day when everyone gets what he/she deserves...tell her that you are together all the way no matter what...and be very very patient...may god help her and support her...

If she chooses to stay a distance, let her be. She might feel happier that way.

For yourself learn how to "detach" ( as I am still learning now)
