Just thought that if anyone has not read this book it is a very good book for anyone who is going through emotional and/or verbal abuse... This is written by Beverly Engel..

I will post some excerpts from the book later...

Types of Emotionally Abused Women:

The Codependent

"one who has let another person's behavior affect him or her, and who is obsessed with controlling that person's behavior."

A codependent has a pattern of getting involved with people whom she tries to rescue or take care of, and she lives her life for others.

She anticipates other people's needs, and she then wonders why they don't do the same for her.

In addition, she often finds herself doing more than her fair share of the work and doing things for others that they are capable of doing for themselves.

Then, when others do not do what she wants, she feels victimized, angry, unappreciated, and used.

This is a very respected book by people in the mental health field, according to a friend of mine, whose opinion I trust.

In this book the author will show you how to
.. Recognize and understand the abusers in your life

.Identify the patterns that have kept you emotionally trapped

.Complete your unfinished business (This is about the pattern of abuse and perhaps the original abuser ... childhood history of emotional abuse)

.Decide whether to walk away from an abusive relationship or take a stand and stay

.Heal the damage of abuse by building self-esteem

.Break the cycle of abuse and open yourself to the promise of healthy relationships

I read it! Loved it. The name of the narcissistic abuser and story matched my ex to the T. And I mean down to the name. Friggin hilarious (now at least...groan)
