Thought perhaps we could try a thread like this again. Some of us are trying to find who we really are. Sometimes Art is very helpful to do this. Art can be in many forms so this thread can be for a wide range of ideas. Hopefully, we can all help each other to find our true selves.

This is a good thread, have been reading a bit of the other one as well. Art is in many forms, I agree. I guess I am very spiritual in nature, somewhat intuitive, however I play it down. Regarding art, I always enjoyed clay.

On My Way, May I ask what you make with clay? Sounds interesting and I am aware they teach classes for that. Would like to learn more. Hope you will enjoy those gifts you have. See you later.

Hi Tumbles, "enjoyed" past tense for me,,it has been a very long time and it would be a good idea for me to take a class. Expression of self through art is healing I think. May even take up water colors. But presently I do not do clay.

I like watercolor pencils, though it's kind of "cheating". I can draw/sketch what I like, and then use a damp brush to go over it and it looks like I did an awesome watercolor painting.

I also like to draw with gel pens. The way the ink flows, and the fact that it's usually waterproof help me. I also do a little painting with acrylics. I like them because they dry fast and if I make mistakes, I can paint over them...

Does anyone write music?

Ren'ai

You gave me more good ideas here. I could make my own little sachet pillows to put in the dresser. I used to order them from the Norfolk Lavendar catalog along with some colognes. I still have some of the pillows I can use for patterns. I know they are simple to make. I almost bought acrylics today, but decided maybe I should stay with poster paints because I am totally a beginner. I have not tried the gel pens. I bought a couple of glue sticks to get started on the scrapbooking idea. Also, got some used magazines they have for the taking at the library so I'm hoping I find some pictures in them. Our laundry room also has an abundance of magazines which can be taken. We have a big library in our building with books overflowing on the shelves so I will have a look around there, too. I think I'll find something I can use. I was thinking about the idea of writing music and I think several years ago I did attempt to write a song, but have forgotten it now. I wrote a sonnet or two as I used to like writing them, but have also forgotten them for the time being at least. I love the way the mind expands and the ideas just flow. Will have to start writing down a lot of these ideas.

Does anyone watch One Stroke Painting on TV? I plan to go back to watching it again as it seems simple. The kits are also sold at Michael's Crafts. I noticed there is a web site for Michael's which also has tips etc. for various crafts.

Hi everyone!!! It is great to see all of this creative talent!!!

I love to write, watercolor( love those pencils too Ren'ai!!) and I do play guitar dabble in writing songs and love singing!!! The problem is, if I keep trying to do a little bit of all of it I never get anything accomplished!! Well, the last year I've been taking on line classes toward a BA in Marketing. Many of these classes are about writing essays and this has honed my skills. I've embarked on a fictional tale that will also help me work through some of my own issues. I figured, why not try to work them out in this format?

Being in nature helps foster my creativity. Whenever I get the chance to go to the mountains I take the guitar, the paints or pencils and related materials. I usually come back with something!

This is the coolest thread! I do watercolors, carve wood, sculp with clay and write. I write Lord of the Rings fan fiction and I'm working on an original fiction that (hopefully) incorporates the fantasy genre with self-healing. Gosh, I love this place!

It is nice to see that there is such a variety of creativeness. I am still cutting pictures out of magazines for scrapbooking. Since I found a few bigger ones I'm making covers for some of my books starting with the spiral notebooks first. What a difference it makes. Now I feel more like they are really my journals instead of note pads. I think I will write in them more often now. For the front covers, I selected pictures with entrance ways with the door open as I thought that was welcoming and it does look that way, too. I hope to be more open in my journaling than I have been. Later.

Pipkin that sounds great, I am also writing a bit, into chapter done, incorporating angels and their intervention into my own story.

Tumbleweed, Michael's is such a great store, so many things to look at and be creative with!

My "art" is landscape/ garden design. I actually get paid to create a beautiful living space for people and its fun as well. Get to meet new people and every project is different. Had one of my designs on Landscaper's Challenge on HDTV!

Tumbleweed, that's a great idea to change your journal covers!! I think I'll try this.

sdesigns, have you ever created outdoor meditaion spaces or sacred spaces for people? When I have a house of my own, I really want to do this.

Thank you, Tumbles, for starting this tread. I do believe it is a great help to personal growth to be creative.

Great about covering your journals... fabulous idea. It sounds lovely.

The herb bags are a lovely thing to do.... who knows, ilsils, they may become your 'personal signature"!

Purses and quilts! How amazing would that be.... have you ever tried Textile Art, WhatIsNormal, take a look at this site if you're interested, http://www.uniqueexpressions.net

It blows me away!

Water colour... wish I could be that refined! And 'cheating' with watercolour pencils? Nah, RenAi, that's what you're meant to be doing... and anyway, art mimicks life.... if you want to do it that way, and it's not hurting anyone, well, why not - it's your choice.

Writing, sculpting, music!!!!

Come on, guys, and what are you about to pick up and try?..... We all need to feed our souls with crativity.... it's a doorway to so much more.....

Hey friends, what would you do first if you had an hour to feed your creative spark.... ?

Good luck to your angels....
