I woke up yesterday morning with my right neck and shoulder sore. I could not move them. I took an Advil and hot/warm bubble bath. I covered myself with warm blanket last nite and this morning, I took an Advil; yet the pain continues.

Any suggestoin?

Hi Ras

Yes Hand Reflexology would work wonders. If you are able to thumb walk, like a caterpillar with opposite hand, pressing just under your small finger on the palm (this is the shoulder area), and also along the outside of the thumb on the hand (this is the cervical area) this should help with pain relief. But you need to press very firmly.

You may need to look on the internet for a hand reflexology chart to show you the exact point you should be pressing if confused. But its very effective.

If you have the louise Hay book, that will tell you what internal thought patterns you have to say to yourself the help with your shoulder pain.

I think garlic and tomatoes, also act as an anti inflammatory, if the muscles are pressing on the nerves, due to tight muscles. Drinking loads of water is a must to help relax the muscle fibres.

Dead Sea salts are very good. You relax in the bath with them. You can normally buy them from a health food shop.

I think thats about it.

Good luck, hope some of it works

x
And finally deep massage is very good.

Thanks CTC so much for the tips. I will try out some of them.

This sore neck and shoulder was Not due to stress. It was due to the cold weather. The weather changed from humidity to fresh and cool. I was covered with light cotton bedsheets when I got them and had my windows all over wiedely opened and had a light T shirt as my nity. I know but did not take the weather seriously.

Be careful of carrying a heavy bag on one side. Switch on and off if you must carry something like that. I'm always hurting my neck and shoulders for that reason. It's a bad habit, but I have still a little scholiosis and one shoulder is just low enough that the bag slides of it more easily. So I favor the other. Ouch it hurts! I know what you mean. Do you get charlie horses in it?

what are charlie horses, Ella? I hope I feel better by tom. I do have scoliosis as well. In fact My sore neck/shoulder is due to that I got cold due to the cool/fresh weather we're having nowadays. Quite unusual for this time of the year. Usually by now it's quite humid and hot.

(((Ras))), i was gonna suggest a hot bath when I began reading this. My pain is sort of chronic but lessened the last two months or so. Lucky you, enjoy your bubble baths and dont catch a draft after one of them!

hugs,

Charlie horses are extremely painful cramps that immobilize the muscle. Just slang for it. I guess no one says it anymore. I got it from my grandma. Used to get them in my calves. So did my mom. And our feet. They'd make your toes curl. All you could do was walk around and have someone massage them.

((((Sini))) Long time no see????? Where have you been hiding???? I promise no more cold currents or drafts. As a matter of fact, I got out my wool winter blanket and covered myself with it at nite. I also put on my wollen winter socks. Isn't that funny? we're having another winter over here!!!

Ella~ No, don't think they are that serious - Charlie horses. Just a cold from those cold currents. Thanks for responding hon!

WD~ Yea, we've been having funny upredictable weather this year. In fact, we've been having sort of 4 seasons kinda a thing. We really have to be careful. I seem to get into that frantic mode of get out that light bedsheet when it's humid and hot and my electrical fan; get out that wool blandet and wool socks when it turns out to be fresh and cool.

Phew, we really need to be so patient with the weather. It is so upredictable!!!

Hi Ras,

Stretching excercise seems to help. Especially shoulder roles and pumping shoulders back and forth--the choo choo train action.

Massage can also help. Even self-massage.

Those big strong wand vibrators have worked well on my neck and shoulders--you can apply em gently, or really dig in to where it hurts.

In the long run, the strategy seems to be:

1) Correct or improve posture and body mechanics.

2) Avoid re-injury--for example, sleep on the right bed with the right pillow, etc for you.

3)Treat pain and stiffness as needed, engage physical therapy or other methods to facilitate # 1 and 2.

Thanks (((WD))) for the tips, I don't feel like making any workouts tonite; however I will hop into my bath and fill it with lavender oil. I love lavender!!!!

(((CTC))) Thanks babe for asking about me. Well, I did not sleep well all nite lontg. In the morning, when the alarm clock went off, I felt that I want to run or retreat. I really had to foce myself, have breakfast, take an advil and hop into my shower and run to work.

Right now, I am going to take a bubble bath. I am really exhausted after a nite of ill-sleep. I really need to pamper myself and just soak my aching body in a lavender bath trying to do my best to massage myself.

Thanks for your thoughts and concern hon. Bless you!!!

The shoulder roll thing takes less than five minutes, and you can do it anywhere!

This morning my neck hurt a lot together with my shoulder upon waking up. It really felt horrible. I soothed the pain with Advil. Then the pain resumed when I was in the office. Even right now as I write these words, I can feel the pain piercing down my right shoulder.

(((Ras))), sorry you got stuck with the pain this long! Maybe youre due for a check up? Your mattress needs chanigng? Pillow? I know it was due to a draft, and you have scoliosis, but still... whatever can ease the pain is a plus.

I havent been able to check in a lot. Also tired some, got cancelled classes due for recup all at once! And you know how happy I am with kittens playing with each other but the thrill over getting them adapted and all got me almost too stressed. Now Im watching them from the box seat, you know, like in the theater, more comfortable, he he.

I hope you figure whats best for your neck/shoulder and work on it. No fun to be in pain!

Have a restful painless sleep!

(((Ras))), Ive checked my thread and saw your post, tks! Yeah, we need to get a kind of a room going again! I think our needs diversified... It could be we´re each exploring more of our roads?? If so, it served its purpose. Anyway, Im not so regular to get it started. But then again, my sister´s got a PC (f i n a l l y) and Im staying more in MY home, yes, its becoming a home, now, yey!

Im going for lab exams (b/c of the meds) and will also have some doctors´appts next few weeks. That alone is a little tiring but hopefully for the best. Im better but have had some headaches still. Hope you get over your health hurdles. I like hearing from you, especially to know youre well! Sleep well!

hugs,
