Just found out yesterday that my mother has endometrial cancer. It hasn't been staged yet. she goes for a d&c next wednesday. She says she does not want an operation. Don't know what I feel right now. Mostly numbing out.

((((((((((((((jill))))))))))))

I am so sorry about the news about your mom, and certainly can relate to how you are feeling - I know that feeling of numbness and shock all too well.

I will be saying a prayer daily for your mom, you and your family to find the strength to pull through this, and for the Dr's to do their best to help cure her. Remember that you have no control over what happens ... but you do have control over staying strong for yourself, your mom, and your family and listening to the Dr's and following their expertise on what needs to be done for her best interest ... and praying.

hang in there, jas, and please keep us posted on how she is doing. Maybe we can both help eacother through this very trying time.

(((((((((hugs))))))))))

Thank you, Angel. We still don't have an official diagnosis even. She has a large mass in her uterus. They went to do the D&C, which would have confirmed (or not) cancer, and staged it. But the doctor was unable to perform the D&C because the opening to her cervix was blocked either by scar tissue or by the tumor itself. The next step is definitely a hysterectomy. My mother says Maybe she'll do it after her cruise in September, but she's not making any promises. She's driving my sisters and I crazy.

Hi jas,

I was wondering how things are going? I can certainly understand your worries. What are the Dr's saying? Did they tell your mom that she can wait until September?

It sounds like your mom is afraid. Surgery, let alone a hysterectomy is a big thing for most woman - I hear it makes them feel like their womanhood is being taken away, and I can imagine that the fear of cancer in her body and the possibilty of dying is even more scarey.

Are you & your sisters able to talk to your mom on a more emotional level to help understand her resistance and possible fears?

Hang in there, kiddo!

btw - I have a friend of mine that had a tumor on her toe. Apparently the type of cancer it was is very rare, so they had to remove her toe as well put her through chemo treatments. When she was first told, the Dr's strongly recommended she have the surgery ASAP. She insisted (against Dr's orders) to instead take 2 weeks to take a trip to Florida to visit with her family, and to stroll through the sand barefoot because she was worried she would not be able to again for a long time, if ever.

I am wondering if this is how your mom is feeling as well?
