I think there is this underlying depression inside me that is slowly consuming my everyday life. I dont know what it is. I can't pinpoint it but I know that it is there. I'm starting to feel that my identity is slipping away and I don't really understand who or what I am anymore. What should I do?

I think you should start a journal. Write down your feelings . Get it out on paper why you feel your identity is slipping away. Read it to someone or burn it, but start being honest with your self. Why? ask your self.

Get out there and exercise inbetween writing in the journal. Get the book, Life Strategies by Phil McGraw.
Idleness can cause depression, a feeling of lack of controll, blending in with the circumstances vs, in controll or creating the circumstances. Of course right now politically we are all pretty much with out controll, and this is a real edgy time, so its even more important for you to take care of you, and what you can. Diet is important as well.

Flowers,

I have learned that to love life we have to love ourselves. When the pressure is on, press on. If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see or can say that you love yourself, then you need to make a list of what you believe isn't right. They have clinics in my part of the country that you can participate in for depression and they give you medication to see if it will help, you get medication and get paid for the testing of the new drug. This might be a way to help you sort things out without you slipping deeper into depression. Depression is a serious issue, don't mess with it. You have a problem, but there is a solution. Look up, God loves us all and he gives us strength to work our way through this life on this earth.

One day at a time, push.

Pam

I to feel like I am falling into a deep depression.. I was thinking yesturday while I was cleaning a closet that I wish I didn't have to do any thing ... I have gotten to the point of only doing just what I have to get by.. I have never thought of myself as lazy... or any thing like that... I just almost don't care... I know how you feel.... I feel it to... I have always been against taking any pills for any reason but I am getting to the point to where I wonder if that will help me to get going again... where do I start ,... can I ask my doctor about it and i don't want him to think I am seeking drugs because I am not any suggestions appreciated

sue2001,

Doctors are there for help. Don't feel ashamed to ask for help. Sometimes we need that little push to point us in the right direction. Lifestyle modification and medication can do wonders, give yourself a chance. Tell your doctor exactly how you are feeling. You have a problem and there is a solution, one not to feel that way anymore. Depression is something not to play with.
