So I got a new doctor, who after hearing and seeing my symptoms, ordered tests that all the other doctors had refused to because I fit the "normal" range and instead gave me antidepressants, which I appreciated but knew there was more. Besides, they never seemed to pick me up completely. Turns out my thyroid hormones were so low she was shocked that I was still so active. I also had H-pylori bacteria that caused me ulcers and made me think I was gluten intolerant. She also found that my iron was also very low. So 4 days on synthroid and a regiment of antibiotics for the colony of guests in my tummy, I do not feel depressed. I ate a big mac just to make sure that if I was actually gluten intolerant, I would go down happy. My mind fogginess is clearing, I'm not tired or sleepy during the day and haven't had to take caffeine pills or other picker uppers. The most amazing part is that I could wear my contacts without my eyes hurting or getting double vision. My carpal tunnel pain has also diminished remarkably. I also haven't had obsessive thoughts. I really feel like I have a new lease on life.

So if you are feeling unable to start yourself up in all ways possible, despite the antidepressants, check your thyroid. It could be the culprit, especially if there is a family history of it.

Please celebrate with me on this one. Progress news is always a good thing:)... So much love to you all!!! It's great to come here and share my ups and downs.

(((lanigirl))), (((Zebra))), Thank you for celebrating with me. Zebra, did you also have trouble convincing doctors that you knew something was wrong? How long have you been on the meds and how do you feel?

fantas,

Thanks so much for passing this on.

The last time I went to my local, county mental health department, I inquired as to just that - getting my thyroid checked and she looked at me as if I all of a sudden started to speak to her in Greek!!!!!

Good that you trusted your gut instinct and found someone competent enough to look at other areas within your body as the source!!!

Your post has given me the courage to persue what I also feel could be my thyroid because there is also a history in my family for having it!!!!!!

What's up with these folks anyway for not being able to cross-diagnose??????

Must they really continue to wear such acedemic blinders???????

Incredible.

Anyways ((((fantas)))), thanks so much for sharing!!!!!!!
