Our 9 year old daughter fear problem is getting out of hand. She cannot sleep in her room, she cannot go to the bathroom unless somebody standing outside and even then she is afraid to flush. She has been sleeping in our room on a matress and a sleeping bag. We have a single floor small house. We tried therapist for few months and he went on vacation and never called back to reschedule. She had a big dog come after her and her cousin but never bitten. She is also afraid to go to the park because of dogs. Her cousin never affected with the incident. I tell my wife that if we let her sleep in our room for a while she might forget about her fears and maybe this phase will pass. NEED HELP PLEASE.

Wow that is a terrible thing to happen to your daughther.

Maybe your daughter needs to confront her fears. As scary and cruel as that may sound, maybe she needs to meet and greet some dogs. Small ones at first that are real nice, then work your way to bigger dogs. Just so she knows that not ALL dogs are bad.

She will always have that fear with her, but maybe you can dull it a little if she can confront another dog.

I hope that she is able to sleep in her own room soon and looses that fear!! I feel for her.

Find another therapist.

Even irrational fears are still fears and need to be dealt with.

I dont' see any problem with her campoing in your room for awhile.
Also try sitting with her in her room until she falls asleep. If she wakes up she can still go back to her bunk in your room.

does she sleep over at friends homes at all?

Take it step by step.

Thank you to all of you who responded to our little problem. I am happy to announce that she is back in her bed. I made her say loud the she is not scared of anything. Nothing can scare her and also make say a litlle prayer and walk around her room and blow air in each and every corner of her room and under her bed to burn the all the evil spirits. Hopefully my 5 year old is not going thru the same thing. Thanks once again.

You know, at first I was going to recommend to do what my dad did when I was a child who suffered from dreams. he swept the house and told me all the evil was gone!!! Amazing that she blew in all the corners of her room.
