12 years ago, today, I was just coming out of the courtroom, and walking down to the end of the hall, to receive my divorce decree! And I walked out of the courtroom a SINGLE WOMAN!!

I feel I was lucky that it was my Dad, who went with me to court. Because my Mom is more of the nurturing type, and her sympathy for my pain, makes me feel even MORE sorry for myself. Where with my Dad, he made me feel like I did, during one of my softball games, when my team won the game, because I caught a pop fly in centerfield, (even though I was suppose to be in LEFT field!) I just remember looking across the ball park, and seeing my Dad's lawn chair up in the air, his sunglasses hanging half way off of his face and his feet were NOT on the ground! LOL! THAT is how he made me feel, when I was on the stand in divorce court. Because I basically belted out my story in less than 2 minutes, before the judge interupted to say "Divorce granted"!

I was the first case to go forward in front of the judge. And I know that everyone else in the room was in shock, and was hoping that their divorces would go the same way! I didn't hang around to find out, because the next thing to do, was to walk down to the end of the hall, and pick up my divorce decree. I walked out of that courthouse a SINGLE WOMAN!! And I felt NO sorrow or sadness! THANK, DAD!!

Just thought I'd share!

Love ya'll...

Jen

And yes, I walked out of that courtroom a SINGLE WOMAN! Do ya' think I said that enough times? (I just realized I said that TWICE, in my last post! LOL!) I guess I'm truly re-living the memory...

But it truly was an exciting moment!

Thanks, Ready! It's funny, because the divorce was 2 days after the wedding anniversary. Best anniversary gift in all of the 7 years of marriage!

I am sorry Jenn for that. My divorced sister told me that divorce is one of the most stressful events in one's life.

I hope and pray that you will be compensated someday by another wonderful gentleman who will give you all the love and kindness. You really deserve it with your nurturing personality.

(((Hugs & Prayers)))

Thanks, Ras. Yeah, it was painful, but I was young enough to take it on without any long term effects.

And 9 years or so, after the divorce, I did meet a sweetheart of a guy. We were together for 3 years, and have just recently split up. Long story. (story is on the "Can we tell our stories, again" thread.)

Anyway, all is good. I feel healthier when I'm single, and not obsessing about things I can not change. I'm more at peace, after accepting that.

NOW, if I could just find someone that doesn't "need" any changes, I might be able to actually settle down. LOL! Who knows?

Thanks for your reply! (((Ras)))

What a great Dad you must have! Father's Day always makes me aware of the fact that I never knew my Dad but grateful for all of the folks along the way that filled in.

So, here's to my football coach, employer at my highschool job, and otheres.

Give your Dad a big hug from me.
