I have a good friend who's son is 27 and addicted to any type of drug he can find to get a high. Is there a way that you can have someone involuntarily committed to drug rehab? Does it take a court order and how would he go about getting one?

Yes.  Actually involuntary treatment is a legal procedure in itself.  But you have to prove that the person is not able to exercise good judgment, self control and discretion, not able to care for him or herself, attempted suicide or there is a probably for such, self-mutilation has occurred has a chance to occur or if he or she is considered dangerous to others.

I would imagine with something like that the person would have to actually get in trouble with the law for him to be committed without his consent. Unfortunately, with addictions that person has to want to change, no one can change them or make them want to change until they hit their "rock bottom".

I was hoping he had hit his rock bottom when he was hit by a full size truck while riding on the road at 10 pm. He sustained brain trauma, a shattered pelvis, broken bones in his face and a few other things internally. The horse had to be put down. For a while after he got out of the hospital that did physical rehab with him, he was doing great. Now he's back with the friends he had before who are all users. He has admitted he is an addict and his mother is monitoring his pain medication, only giving him a certain amount a day. But I'm worried he is going to get killed this next time. I'm kinda fond of the boy myself and I worry.

There is no shortcut to referrals. They are based on trust that has to be earned over time. Your sphere of influence are the people who already know you and they are the most likely to provide you referrals if they know you are in the business and you need their help. I have done a lot of business networking and it feels like a full-time job building relationships to the point they will refer me over their cousin, aunt or someone else they know.

You could develop relationships with people in the commercial building field that know who is moving like insurance brokers, janitorial services, moving companies etc.

In the event that you are harmed or simply feeling lousy
with a sore throat-hit up a critical forethought focus in your neighborhood and
get those sweet pipes working once more.
