Retirement, especially for players and heavy machinery workers, comes with chronic pain. Many retirees have been known to live on pain pills. In most cases, these pain pills lead to many to to begin a Prescription Drug Addiction. This self-medication with pharmaceutical-grade opiates has become the order of the day for many retirees. Hockey players have been known to be hooked to pain pills.

“I used to go see the guys who had just had surgery and ask them if they had any extra painkillers I could have”, said retired defenseman Dennis Gauthier, who played for four NHL teams in his 12-year pro hockey career.

Retired NFL players use pain pills at higher rate than the normal population. This is according to a recent research conducted at Washington University School of Medicine in st. Louis. Also, old people have been seen to be inclined to Prescription Drug Addiction in many countries worldwide. The warning signs that you are hooked to pain pills are:

You get pain pills from other sources

You usually feel that the pills you have are not enough to ease your pain hence you try to get more. Some of the ways you may use to get these pills are stealing from sick relative, hurting yourself so that you can rush to hospital and get new prescription, ordering drugs online, buying other peoples’ prescription drugs, stealing other peoples’ long-forgotten prescription drugs or leftovers and many others. These are sure indications of being Hooked on Pain Pills.

You feel angry when some talks to you about it
