Say you have been together for 10 years or so and the "flame" just does not seem to be there anymore.  You argue more and more and you just don't have that feeling of rushing right home to see the other anymore.  Do you think couples counseling will help this?  If not then what?

I woul say it is at least worth a try.   You don't want to just throw away 10 years without giving it the extra effort.  Good luck.

I think couples counseling is definitely the way to go in this situation. You probably need some outside help to see exactly why the "flame" isn't there anymore. It's never easy to keep a relationship healthy for such a long time, but some objective advice and guidance couldn't hurt.

Have you tried talking to each other and listening?  Maybe all you need is a change of perspective, maybe you're looking at your spouse with tired eyes?

I don't think counseling is ever a bad idea. If you think you might need it, you probably do. That said, there are other things you could try before you head off to counseling, such as a romantic weekend getaway. Sometimes a little jump start and time focused only on each other can do the trick. If the arguing continues, I would definitely look into counseling.

I think it would help if both people were willing to participate and also willing to try any suggestions the therapist has. It's normal to fall into that rut but if both people involved are not willing to do something about it, it is not going to work.

You mentioned couples counseling. This means you have been exploring the option of couples counseling. There are counselors that have special training in this area to help people just like you experiencing the difficulties that you have just described. How does your partner feel about couples counseling?

I agree with trying couples counseling. If you guys have been together for 10 years, why not try it out and see how it goes? Do you think your partner would be perceptive to this idea?
