Hi, can anyone advise me....my male friend, who lives in a different province, decided to visit over the weekend & very unlike him, asked if he could stay over, though he wanted to make sure first if my children would be ok with him staying over. They 17 & 21. Is this a big step for a guy to do. My kids have met him before & I have also told them about our history.

Background...we have known each other for many years, met before I married my ex, he liked me, I turned him down & hurt him unintentionally, we reconnected with each other 3yrs ago. He has never married. I do love him & he knows this, though he shys away from getting emotionally involved with me, though we good friends & have great chemistry between us.

hopefully,

I don't think there's anything wrong from his intention to stay in your place. Maybe as a friend, he misses you and he wanted to reconnect with you especially to your kids. Has he done anything before that made you dislike him? or you are just uncomfortable everytime you are with him? It might help that you talk it out formally so there would be no awkward feelings between you two and that will also lead him to his limits as well as he'll have the chance to know your sentiments and concerns.

Hope that helps.

This is just my opinion, but I dont think it is advisable to allow this "friend" to stay in your home.  If you want to reconnect with him, could you not find a way to do it overnight eleswhere?  I mean if your children like him, its fine for a short visit, but why the sleepover???
