Laura Roxberg 1st 1500 Mizzou 2012 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Champs - Interview with Missouri 4th-year junior Laura Roxberg, an Overland Park, Kansas native and Blue Valley Northwest graduate, after her school record and conference title in the 1500 at the 2012 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Kansas State, in Manhattan, Ks. Sunday, May 13. Roxberg, who captured the 2012 Big 12 Indoor Mile title, blew away the field and set a new Missouri school record by finishing in 4:16.71 to better the Olympic Trials B standard. Roxberg won by nearly 3.5 seconds and was faster than former Missouri All-American and Distance Medley Relay National Champion Anne-Marie Brook's previous school record. Roxberg came close to the record at the Drake Relays with 4:18.85 for a runner-up finish, but left no doubt the record was hers on Sunday. Not only was the race a sight to see as Roxberg blazed the track and competition, but so was the celebration with Coach Rebecca Wilmes and teammates after an interview with the Fox Sports Broadcast team. Roxberg's time was announced as the fastest at the Big 12 Conference Meet since current Mizzou volunteer assistant and Sports Psychology Doctoral student Anne Shadle's victory in 2005 for Nebraska at the same Kansas State Track. In that race, Shadle won in 4:15.66 while former Missouri All-American Amanda Bales kicked down the final straightaway to place second in 4:18.79. That time by Bales put her 8th on the NCAA list at the time while in this Olympic year, Roxberg's mark is amazingly only 23rd on the DI <b>...</b>
