Our personality is trying to unfold its potentials and trying to accept its necessary limitations. When it can unfold, we feel joy. Our creativity is released. We may find meaning. When our personality’s natural development is blocked, we get depressed, or anxious, or we develop physical symptoms or addictions. Our symptoms offer clues about what is trying to unfold. When we become more conscious, the symptoms may dissolve. Our dreams also offer clues. When read accurately they promote healing and development.
A relationship over time with the therapist is essential to the process. Analysis is usually face-to-face but, for some people, it can also work by phone.
Group therapy offers feedback, insight and support from peers. Group members understand better how they relate to their peers. In a safe and constructive environment they learn to transform old habits.
