Marshall University: Joseph and Pamela Gillette join The Pathway of Prominence - Gillettes join Pathway of Prominence at Marshall University HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Longtime Marshall University supporters Joe and Pam Gillette became the latest to be honored with a plaque on the school's prestigious Pathway of Prominence in a recognition ceremony today on the Huntington campus. Donors who present gifts of $1 million or more to Marshall are honored with a plaque on the Pathway, which is located between Old Main and the Memorial Student Center. The Gillettes' plaque is the 21st on the Pathway. In addition to the couple's generous financial support, Joe Gillette has served on many boards of directors at Marshall, including the Society of Yeager Scholars, the MU Alumni Association and the Marshall Foundation Inc. He currently is president of the Yeager Scholars board and first vice president of the Foundation board. He also is a past president of the Thunder Club. In 2008, the Marshall University Welcome Center was renamed the Joseph M. Gillette Welcome Center in honor of Joe's late father. Joe and Pam made a financial commitment to the university which resulted in the renaming of the center. Joe said the center's new name was a way to memorialize his father. He also established the Joseph M. Gillette Scholar Award, also named in memory of his late father, in 2006. The scholarship goes to a student selected to be a Yeager Scholar.

Downtown Roanoke Virginia Windows of Heaven - A very artistic visual effects video of my home town, Roanoke, Va united with a song my mom, Patricia Pfister and Steve Gillette co-wrote. The name of the song is" Windows of Heaven." This song is about bringing peace to the world. Patrica Pfister and Steve Gillette wrote this song after the 911 tragedy. Lee W Badger is the sculptural artist of the Steel rotating sculpture called "Comma" where it appears in Wachovia Plaza on the corner of Market St. and Salem Avenue, SE in Roanoke, VA, down the block from the city's new art museum. It is one of eight sculptures in the city's first temporary exhibition of public art. Comma is kinetic and meant to be touched and rotated, allowing viewers to interact with curving shapes and shadows that change from every angle and direction. The spiral form evokes both rotary motion and spiral progression. Comma is rich with familiar associations. Spheres on the spiral tips suggest heavenly bodies in the swirling universe. Other viewers find aquatic or nautical allusions and see the spiral disk as a rolling wave or a rotating sail. In the video, the Kinetic sculptural meshed well with the dancers and of visual with Roanoke landmarks and buildings. I hope you enjoy this video and the song. Visual effects by Hans Moore.
