What's the difference between Intuition & Telepathy?

Happy New Year to you all!

I just saw a thread today about intuition and was reading it when I came across a poster who replied to something similar to me to telepathy rather than intuition.

Hence, I thought of starting a new thread to ask this question:

What is the difference between Intuition & Telepathy?

Do either/both always work? Should we always rely on them? Are they always trustworthy and reliable?

~Thanks, Ras~

Yes, Getting, but I can't tell the difference between both.

Sometimes they sem to work, other times they do not.

That is why we can Not rely on them all the time.

I would like to hear other's opinions and experiences.

gettingthere,Rasputin, I think we should always trust our intuition, I feel it is GOD's way of protecting us or someone else. gettingthere,no I have not always had this intuition thing it has come on since adulthood. But I have found that 99percet of the time I am right. And I also get dreams about things too.

Like once I had a dream about a freind who was hurting and had been hurt very badly, I belive the dream came from GOD because in my dream I was also told what to do to help.

I am learning to trust my intition more and more, I think the more you trust it the better you get at it.

I don't belive I am telepathyic because I belivce it all comes from GOD..

You know what Ras? I'm not really sure of the difference, but I strongly feel they are connected. What I have is something I refer to as my "sixth sense". There's only a handful of people I know that say they possess the same "thing", and they either refer to it as telepathy or a gut instinct. Intuition on the other hand- for me anyway, is something that is more of a "feeling" I get with regards to certain individual situations. My sixth sense is more of a means of communication with only a select few. It's comparable to a soul-mate, or a soul-sister.

Thanks Getting & Camra for your answers and feedback!

I believe in intuition too; I know it works most of the time even tho sometimes it can be faulty.

But as you said Camra 99% it works.

I wonder if intuition is "gut feeling" that something is going to happen and that situation happens in a general way, matching your gut feeling – where telepathy is getting a vivid image of how something will occur and it happening exactly like that.

I get this image of phoebe on "charmed" and she has telepathic abilities (lame, but all I could think of) – and she "sees" events as they occur – in detail.

And I think that's where perhaps they differ – one is vague, the other is specific.

i could be wrong…google it?

hi Ras,
I don't know, but i think intuition is about feelings experienced by one person. intuition is like a gut instinct. also, i think intuition is generally more vague and you have to interpret the gut feeling.

with telepathy, i think you have mind to mind communication between two or more people. its more specific and clear.

i could be way wrong, that's just how i see the two being different.

camra rasputin this is just a thought, they do say as a child we have this ability very strongly and childen seem to be very good on people you know that gut feeling about them and 9/out of 10 they seem to be right, well i had noticed that since ive found out i was codependent and i have been doing at lot of healing work on my wounded inner child these intuiton gut feelings had become stronger,
i somehow think its connected but i may be wrong it just seems strange to me that you know what im talking about .but i have spoken about this before to others but dont really experience intuition,………………gettingthere

Hi I would say that intution is an instinct we have, we don't know why we have it because it is an instinct. Telepathy is when you know what is going to happen next, you hear peoples thoughts. I would say the difference is, protection and insight are usually connected to intution. Whereas there is usually non of these for telepathy.
Intution is something that we all have and don't know how to use it. Telepathy is something some of us of have.
I think its intersting stuff!

Thanks all for the explanations.

Yes I have felt these things at sometime in my life and still do at ceratain occasions.

I think I get more of the intuition thing than telepathy, tho I also experienced the latter at some stage in my life.

Hi Ras, Fun thread. Interesting.

I agree with Alicat, bonni, about instinct being at a gut level, and telpathy a more specific "mind transfer".

Anne McCaffrey wrote a short series of novels about an advanced race of humans who had harnessed their telepathic (transfer of thoughts) and telekinetic (transfer of objects) powers to reach one another through space. It was a theme in her dragon stories as well.

So without looking it up, I think instinct is a vague feeling, and telepathy a focused thought. I think we all have our instincts and it just depends upon whether or not we pay attention to them. I like to THINK about telepathy, but I doubt really that it exists.

Thanks Brynnie for the invaluable info to which I wholeheartedly agree with.

I believe in the gut feeling. After all, isn't that what we keep telling each other here. Things like: Trust your gut feeling, instnicts, intuition etc.

This shows that Intuition does exist. It is just that some people may be more talented at using it.

However, there were times when we confuse Intuition with something else which does not happen I am not sure what's it called.

Thanks again Bryn for your feedback!

I googled them: instinct is a hunch; telepathy a transference of thought from one mind to another.

I like to think of instinct as an extension of common sense.

HOWEVER, I have a friend who swears by the uncanny "?"'s that would make her go to the phone and call her twin because she just "knew" something had happened. I'm pretty certain my own "instincts" are not too powerful — I often get a sense of some one person, almost like a worry. Mothers with their kids who, let's say, haven't heard a peep out of them for a little too long…..or waking up in the middle of the night in your own bed far away at the exact moment your father dies — the first one is probably common sense, but the other one is messing with the Big Continuum. Is that the kind of phenome you're talking about?

Another synonym for instinct was a suspicion.

Which covers that uneasy feeling that your lover is cheating on you but you have no proof….

Ok Bryn here is what I found as synonym of each.

Intuition: instinct, perception, insight, sixth sense; hunch, feeling, inkling, suspicion, sense, presentiment.

Telepathy: thought transference, ESP, extrasensory perception, mind-reading, sixth sense.

So we can see that SIXTH SENSE is shared/joint in the 2 terms.

In google, I did not find something that really explained them explicitly.

So, I would presume that to some extent we can say that they are related to each other.

I think the best explanation on google is the one your provided above:

I googled them: instinct is a hunch; telepathy a transference of thought from one mind to another.

Thanks!

Yes, I see that sixth sense is the one common definition, but maybe only in the sense that they are both "beyond" the five, not that they are similar.
