Sometimes we can feel stuck or confused at points of change in our lives, resulting in very real dilemmas. I endeavour to bring clarity and sensitivity to my work with warmth and humour, together with my beliefs of self-determination and responsibility. I sometimes view the process of therapy analogous to embarking upon a journey into the unknown without any maps – as a partnership of equals which provides the opportunity to think together about your situation and what level of help might be needed – a co-operative relationship in which mutual respect, shared responsibility and trust are essential ingredients. Within this relationship my affirming approach is to be with you and the issues you bring to therapy, so the choices you make offer and enrich rather than limit life. Holding that each of us are more than our history, my focus is less about techniques and more about exploration, helping to shed light upon the obstacles in a person’s life, so insights can be gained to change the areas in our lives we want to change. My aim is to offer a safe, supportive, contemplative environment (where it’s OK to get things wrong), and gentle guidance so a person feels freer, more in control of their lives and self empowered as their life is. My role is to get to know you and you to get to know yourself. Rather than cure – I don’t claim to take away all your own struggles and challenges, I see therapy as about growing, managing and changing our lives. Therapy can be about how we create situations and put them in our way – where we can’t change the world, but can explore what’s in our control, what’s reactive, what’s choice. We’ll explore what works in your life and what doesn’t, and how come problems may continue. There may be something worthwhile you want that’s not working, and how you see yourself getting there, may be important. The basic overlapping areas people may want to focus on are : Clarifying the present situation Exploring and releasing the past Living life to our full potential
